Say who ? I thought it was already said: We do want to support the Pegasos board. It's firmly planned. Unfortunately, we haven't received a developer board yet, but if we ever get one, OS4 will run on the Pegasos.

AmigaOS 4.0 on Pegasos : Comment 362 of 510 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Neko on 16-Apr-2002 20:43 GMT | In reply to Comment 358 (Samface): If MorphOS ceased to be Amiga-Compatible then it would also cease to be
interesting.
The bPlan board runs Linux and NetBSD, so we're told. What would make MorphOS
(or more specifically the Quark microkernel at it's core) any more interesting
than those, or maybe a port of Darwin (BSD/Mach kernel base for MacOS X)?
Nothing.
The point is, that MorphOS is as much like an Amiga as you'll get on a platform
that isn't an Amiga. And it does it in one important way: it does it without
use or requirement of any Amiga-owned technology or rights.
Running AmigaOS on some other platform than an Amiga as the exclusive OS is
some kind of Holy Grail to some people. No emulators in windows, no pretending.
Amithlon is the closest you can get to the official for now. It's x86, though,
so you lose all that lovely PPC software..
When the bPlan board appears, MorphOS will be the closest you can get to that.
It's PPC. It runs everything you ever wanted to run on your PPC Amiga, but
faster.
All that remains is to GET that Amiga-sanctioned port, for PPC or x86 or MIPS
or whatever, and decide whether you want to buy it too: whether it offers you
anything that you didn't already have, or whether you really want to stay on the
official track.
Well, that's your decision to make: as I said before, it's not up to anyone here
to dictate to anyone else WHICH choice they should end up making.
Empty legal threats by certain "lawyers" just serve as antagonism, and I
believe that's all they are meant to serve as. Especially since the "lawyers"
in question will have absolutely nothing to do with "it" when "it" happens.
If you believe one OS to be illegal, then just don't use it. I don't see why we
have people here shouting that X was "First" and that X is "Morally Better", I
have no idea why it would matter - apart from, of course, people trying their
hardest to validate their own opinions because they are insecure about them.
But it's certainly not your right to go around and insult people because of
their preferences, just like you can't go around with a placard saying "I Hate
Gays" or "I Hate Niggers". Persecuting individuals because of their choices of
lifestyle, skin colour, clothing, cars or CPU is just plain wrong when you do
it only to make yourself feel better about your own decisions.
Sure, hate people when they do you wrong. If Ralph Schmidt killed your daughter
in a drunk-driving incident, you can hate him and MorphOS all you like. If Ben
Hermans kicked my cat, I'd hate him. But he didn't, so I don't.
Samface/Amifan/others - what have you got to prove that MorphOS is illegal, or
just plain not-the-way. There can be only one, eh? Well that's our choice to
make. You buy AmigaOS, I'll buy MorphOS. What are you going to do about it? What
have you got against me making that choice?
Lets put it into perspective: when you go to the supermarket to do your
groceries, do you buy name brand or store brand? I doubt you buy everything from
the top-selling highest-price original manufacturer. No. Fred Meyer and Safeway
do "cheaper" versions.. and they taste the same at the end of the day.
Would you boycott Safeway just because they sell beans that aren't Heinz brand?
Would you vehemently defend Heinz on every internet message board saying that
buying other brands was morally wrong and illegal because they use a similar
sauce?
