the next ppc amiga : Comment 179 of 359 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Janne Sirén on 19-May-2002 22:11 GMT | In reply to Comment 178 (cOrpse): >"so they did release AmigaOne early, if those boards ever get to developers,
>but not in a form that can be used with AmigaOS 4.0), "
>IIRC the dev are done and the protection / extension roms were being
>fitted ... so there !! na na naa na lol
That would certainly be interesting, if true. That would mean they'd ship those things without AmigaOS 4.0 but with the protection ROM (hence without protection or simply with license we weren't aware of). What is your source?
But that was hardly my point, I guess you missed it. It was all about protecting one's intellectual proprety and the lenghts people are willing to go for it. I wasn't excusing it (or making a statement on it one way or the other), just pointing at the possibility of both parties doing it via some means (although the bPlan part was just speculation on someone's part).
The possibility that the developer boards will include the protection ROM for AmigaOS 4.0 won't in any way obsolete the plan of protecting AmigaOS 4.0 with a ROM (although they might affect it minimally).
And sure, I've read many a time that the board is done, but I still haven't read that anyone has gotten theirs. I certainly hope that will change soon, I welcome both of these products to the market with open arms. These are somewhat exciting developments. |
